My journey to the fittest

Feeling better and beautiful

The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary

Hi this is Mamta Barnwal .I want to share my experience about my weightloss journey.

I used to be 94 kgs when I began. And it has been a long way to 62 kgs. And I’ve achieved this using only natural and healthy diets and home work out.

, I want to decrease my weight/obesity. I have set my target as 60 kgs, it means, I need to reduce 34 kgs. Yes, this is a huge target but I will try my best. I am like the every second fat person, who always wishes to get slim but never urges to do anything for it. I have tried many times, but I have never continued it for more than 2-3 weeks. 😅😅

What did I do –  First I  start  to walking for 20 minutes in the morning, and 20 minutes in the evening for 6 days a week,

What was the result – 0, my weight did not reduce even a bit but I feel a bit light now and now I can easily do the things which I found difficult to do earlier. Probably the morning walk has made my body a bit flexible. Now I started to read lots of articles about obesity and weightloss throughout my free time.

Reducing weight depends upon 70% diet, 20% exercise and 10% lifestyle. Ohh, this is a very important point; I need to think about my diet.

Now, This is the time when I decided that I have to change my  life style my sleeping pattern my eating patterns, and my workout too.

Our choices can make or break us. It is extremely crucial to make sure we resist unwanted temptations, and choose what’s best for our bodies & minds. Along with healthy eating habits for the body, we also need to be mindful of what thoughts we let our minds feed on. Positive & happy thoughts can help us overcome obstacles, whereas negative and stressful thinking can lead to aggravated health problems. The impact of mindful choices will not only be beneficial, but also will be long-term. I pledge to choose right.

City: Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand

Highest weight recorded: 94kgs

Weight lost: 30 kgs

Current Weight: 63.5 kgs

Duration it took me to lose weight: 2.5 years

The turning point: There was a point where I weighed a massive 94 kilos and was about to hit 100 kilos. I started feeling really low and depressed. I had never thought that my weight would touch 3 digits. I decided to get in shape and started my weight loss journey. My fitness coach Sujeet helped me immensely to achieve the same.

My breakfast: I have smoothies with oats or egg whites with a toast. At times I go for idli, dosas, poha, upma, basan chilla etc. as well.

My lunch: I eat a bowl of salad, some protein in the form of dal or chicken accompanied with 1 roti or rice and a portion of sabzi made in low oil.

My dinner: Sauteed vegetables with paneer and oat porridge with an apple.

Pre-workout meal: Bullet coffee

I indulge in: I do not believe in the concept of cheat days. But sometimes I eat my favourite meal.

My workout: In the year 2017, I realised that I was not really taking care of my body as my skin had started to sag. Hence, I decided to start my journey to fitness. My coach Sujeet Aryan helped me a lot during this journey. He used to correct my posture and helped me understand the purpose behind each and every movement. My work out routine includes cardio, strength training and functional training.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: The word diet itself is a negative word as it just makes you feel that you are depriving yourself of certain things. Hence, I have removed the word ‘diet’ from my life as I solely focus on lifestyle changes.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

When you are overweight, you have to constantly battle low-self-esteem and lack the confidence to lead your life. No matter how much you say that you are comfortable in your own skin, deep down you know that is not the case. You cannot wear the clothes of your choice as they don’t have your size in it. Being overweight also brings a lot of health conditions including joint pain, rising levels of cholesterol and even diabetes. You feel lethargic and down and out all the time.

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

In addition to eating healthy, it is also important to eat in the right amount. It is important to understand that losing weight is all about replacing your unhealthy cravings with the right food. I made fitness a part of my daily routine and also started drinking water every day according to my weight recommention.
